Abstract

Bamboo-nitas is an architectural design of culture and community center that exposes the beauty of bamboo as the main material and established in order to accommodate the various communities in Bandung City to be able to express their hobbies and interests. Bamboo-nitas was named after bamboo and "komunitas" (Indonesian language of community). Bandung City is one of several big Cities in Indonesia which is rich in culture and community and has a wide variety of communities that produce a various kind of artworks in the form of traditional and modern art. Bamboo-nitas consist of public open space and the main indoor buildings. Bamboo has a lot of potential that can be developed to produce a high-class and unique piece of architecture. Besides, bamboo architecture can be part of the architectural treasures of Indonesia in the future. There're a lot of methods to bring back bamboo become a public interest, which one is to educate society through a design. Bamboo-nitas using design concept that respond the public's needs and it is expected to bring back bamboo as a material consideration in architecture.
