Abstract

Recently, architects, engineers, and planners have developed various ways to use natural resources that can be processed to support building energy demand. River water is one of the natural resources that can potentially utilized. The "Riverwalk" Kitakyushu is a multi-purpose building with consideration of cultural, art and information-sharing also public-commerce elements located in North-Kokura District, Kitakyushu City. The location of the building adjacent to the Murasaki River becomes an advantage due to of its attractiveness of architectural and public space, and the river can be utilized as a source for renewable energy. The whole research is to study the heat pump systems with utilized river water to support the use of energy processing in HVAC system. Therefore, the method used in this study is by comparison the data of energy consumption and the simulation data. The conclusion of this research is to understand that river water can be used as a source to support HVAC system which is useful to reduce energy consumption. The continuation of this research may also be considered for application to countries with a different climate region context to be stimulated to be more sensitive in designing eco-buildings using the resources that available to the surrounding environment.
