Abstract
The importance of community healthcare, caregiving and welfare is steadily increasing in the community-based integrated healthcare system. Interdisciplinary collaboration is essential to implement optimal treatment and care for patients and their families in community healthcare. However, there exist only a few examples of comprehensive interdisciplinary education (IPE) in community healthcare, and participatory interdisciplinary collaboration training in the field of community healthcare is rarely conducted.A systematic and step-by-step curriculum was implemented at Showa University to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes related to community and home healthcare. As part of this curriculum, a 2-week interdisciplinary community healthcare practicum is offered as an elective course during the 5th and 6th years (3rd year for the School of Nursing and Rehabilitation Sciences).
