Abstract
This paper studies the citizen's needs and economic burden for building elevating machine in rail stations based on analyzing relative weight and economic value of elevator and escalator. About analysis on value consciousness, many citizens have not only altruistic consciousness for building elevating machine, but also selfish consciousness for building escalator. The result of measuring the MWTP (Marginal Willingness To Pay) for building all stations that elevating machine is needed in Hiroshima by using conjoint analysis, it shows that elevator's value (\1,829/family) is higher than escalator's one (\1,338/family).
