Abstract
This paper aimed at quantifying preferences of the disabled and able-bodied for their traveling Hokkaido. The survey targets were disabled and able-bodied residents of Hokkaido. The survey methods were a questionnaire and an interview. The survey target disabled included orthopedically, visually, and hearing impaired people. The survey results identified that as their needs for touristic entertainment, compared with the able-bodied, less no. of the disabled put importance on opportunities for enjoying winter sports and landscape quality, however the survey results by disability indicated that the hearing impaired put more importance on "winter sports" and "landscape quality" than the other disabled. As for travel conditions, both the disabled and able-bodied laid weight in the order of descending priorities, on travel costs, an itinerary, purpose, and travel group. The survey also showed that disabled people's traveling cost four times more than that of the able-bodied.
