Abstract
Recently, the physicality of the crust and mantle beneath the Japan arc has been revealed by seismic tomography and MT survey. The clarification of geofluid distribution in the subduction zone is a first-class problem in volcanology and seismology. To develop the "Geofluid Map", we summarized the geological and petrological data of Japan and developed a "preliminary cross-section" that is composed of the combination of average rock units. We calculated the average elastic wave velocity of each rock unit using the experimental data of elastic wave velocity and then proposed some "basic rock types" typical of the Japan arc.
