Abstract
We investigated the phase transformation of fayalite at high pressures and high temperatures using the multi-anvil press combined with the synchrotron X-ray diffraction technique. In Fe2SiO4, the olivine structure transformed to the spinel structure at 5 Pa and 1300 K, which was in general agreement with those reported by previous studies using quench or in situ X-ray diffraction methods. However, the slope of the transition, dP/dT, determined in our study was significantly higher than that estimated by the previous study using the in situ X-ray method.
