Abstract
Ferropericlace (Fp, (Mg,Fe)O) is one of the main minerals constituting the Earth’s lower mantle, and it is of importance for the Earth sciences. Fp exists as a stable phase up to the CMB condition. Therefore, the clarification of the spin transition of Fp contributes to understand the earth’s deep interior. In this study, we measured Mössbauer spectra and X-ray diffraction pattern of Fp to determine the spin transition using synchrotron Mössbauer spectroscopy and synchrotron X-ray diffraction method. Mössbauer spectra and X-ray diffraction were taken at the beamline BL10XU, SPring-8. The energy of used X-ray for Mössbauer spectroscopy was 14.4125 keV.
