Abstract
The TEM investigations of the iron nanoparticles in lakes and rivers were carried out to clarify how they are reacted with bacteria or organic matters. About 40 cm depth of boring core sample was collected from Lake Kasumigaura, Lake Ushiku, Kokai River, and Lake Tega. To distinguish growing bacterial colonies, it was divided into 3 pieces from the bottom. The core sample from top is composed of coarse-grained materials, while that from bottom is of fine grained materials. The authors will show the results of the TEM investigations and discuss the interaction between iron nanoparticles and bacteria or organic matters.
