Abstract

Wehave carried out experiments of low-quartz (SiO2) using CaO-Na2O-B2O3-Li2O-V2O5 flux, and have succeeded in growing hexagonal prismatic quartz crystals with pyramidal faces at each end in experiments at temperatures heated up to 660 and cooled down to 555ºC. In addition, low quartz crystals, although small, were obtained in the experiments at temperatures heated up to 570ºC, within the low quartz field. In order to improve the crystal size, a quartz and cristobalite mixture was used.
