CO₂-H₂O nano-fluid inclusions found in calcite grains of the Sutter’s Mill meteorite (CM carbonaceous chondrite)

Abstract

We found nano-sized CO₂-H₂O fluid inclusions in calcite grains of a CM carbonaceous chondrite using TEM observation with a cryogenic holder. This fluid was incorporated into calcite grains as inclusions during aqueous alteration in the parent body of the meteorite. If CO₂was originated from CO₂ice, the parent body should be formed in an outer region of the Solar System, which is beyond the CO₂snow line.
