Abstract

To understand difference modes of fracturing during water-rock reactions, it is important to understand reaction-induced stress during hydration. In this study, experiments were conducted using periclace (MgO) to investigate temperature and grain size dependency of reaction-induced stress during hydration. From this result, the relationship between reaction induced stress, reaction rate and deformation rate is discussed.
