Abstract

The composition Al₂SiO₅ has three well-known polymorphs, andalusite, sillimanite and kyanite.
We discovered and synthesized two new high-pressure forms of Al₂SiO₅ by multianvil experiments at the mantle-transition-region pressures (13-23 GPa) and high temperatures exceeding 2300-2500 K.
In this presentation, I will mainly talk about the phase relations of Al₂SiO₅.
