[Introduction] The progress of PHR services is expected to contribute to the management of lifetime records of patient’s health and medical information and to contribute for future medical treatments. In terms of privacy of patients, it is important for the adequate progress of PHR services that patients can select the ways of their own clinical information by themselves, and investigations of the citizen’s requests and needs toward the handling of clinical information.
[Methods] In this study, we conducted web questionnaire survey, twice, concerning about the handling of clinical information and analyzed the results by cross tabulation.
[Results] 80% of questionee answered that PHR services are necessary. It was revealed by cross tabulation analysis that citizens who feel insecure about the information security think these sensitive services to be operated by public agencies. Also it was revealed that people with some diseases place more importance of PHR services than people without diseases. About the handling of maternal handbook, it was revealed that citizens prefer the use for future medical treatments of their children and themselves than the use for medical researches and developments of drugs.
[Conclusion] Based on the citizen’s attitudes of this study, PHR services should be operated by public agencies in the point of financial costs and information security. Moreover, the services should be promoted with the establishment of ID infrastructure in the medical fields.
