Maintenance Management System Integrating Information of Networking Equipment and Its Multicenter Evaluation

Abstract

 As a result of a progress of computerization in hospital, the required level of management of hospital information system is getting higher. The networking equipment including servers and terminals is maintained and managed by several staffs sharing maintenance ledgers prepared based on spreadsheet application. The management by more than one staff causes inconsistencies between the maintenance ledgers, which may disturb maintenance and management operations. We developed maintenance management system integrating information of networking equipment for hospital information system, in which a “self-consistent structure” is implemented. The self-consistent structure in the system guarantees the consistency between the maintenance ledgers and the consistency between the registered information and actual situation and hence, cuts back the workload. We carried out a questionnaire survey to evaluate the system. In this work, we describe the feature of the system in detail and discuss solution applicable to the problem, which became identified by the questionnaire survey.
