Abstract

Precision Medicine is one of the next keywords for cancer treatment. However, there is still an urgent need for a unified database system which integrates multidisciplinary cancer treatment data. We have developed an independent database system automatically collecting confirmed and finalized treatment data from multiple information systems. Data coverage is surgery, chemotherapy, radiation oncology, pathology report and blood test from each corresponding subsystem which includes Hospital Information System with the DWH (Data Warehouse), Radiation Oncology Information System and Pathology Information System. When data is collected and stored, it is converted to a structured form which enables cross regional data search and retrieval. To take full advantage of the stored data, we developed a patient summary application which displays data in a timeline form for each disease unit and hospital staff can register treatment analysis and assessment data during regular clinical work hours. Furthermore, to specify multiple search conditions for data search and retrieval, a designated search application was implemented. This new database system can be utilized in clinical decision assist and clinical research.
