Abstract

The Basic Plan for Science and Technology, approved by the Cabinet in 2016, proposed Society 5.0, aiming to integrate cyberspace and physical space in Japan. In the field of nursing, the utilization of ICT for Society 5.0 is being promoted, and there is a demand for the expansion of ICT education in the basic nursing education curriculum.

This study aims to improve nursing education methods using IT by reviewing current IT technologies in university education and considering their potential application to nursing education. The J Dream Ⅲ database was used to search for relevant literature, and 25 documents published in the past five years were selected and analyzed.

The analysis classified the purposes of using IT into five categories : learning effectiveness, learning promotion, efficiency, convenience, and infection control. The findings confirmed that IT use in medical and nursing education enhances learning effectiveness by providing realistic and simulated experiences. However, the current situation suggests a lack of verification and evaluation of this effectiveness.
