Clinical Laboratory analyzes the specimens derived from patients and provides the laboratory data to patients and medical staffs. ISO 15189 assures the quality of the clinical laboratory. The Management Quality is regarded as an important factor as well as the Quality of the tests in ISO 15189.
The reagent management is important as the laboratory management. It requires many records as lot numbers, expiration dates, good receipt records, use start records, use termination records and so on. To write records by hands increases is very troublesome and can cause the mistakes easily. It must be replaced to the labor-saving, improved paperless, efficient and sophisticated operation.
We developed the method for the reagent management by using Visual Basic for Application (VBA) loaded standardly on Microsoft Excel and the GS1 code, which is employed to identify many goods and services for traceability. It realized the accuracy of records and the decrease of our troublesome works.
