Abstract

Why will a main subject pay its attention to the South Korean capitalism in the 1950s? The various views developed in South Korea or Japan are surveyed, a common feature, difference, etc. are followed, and the reason is clarified. Arthur I. Bloomfield and John P. Jensen who are theoretical / practical specialist of a financial domain arrived in the Republic of Korea from the U.S in June, 1949. By analyzing the contents of financial reform which they performed, the special feature of South Korean capitalism in the 50s is clarified. By doing so, the “U.S. type financial democratization" which tried the system transplant to the Republic of Korea suffers a setback, and the formation term of the “preference zaibatsu" which features “undissociating of possession and management" is accepted.
