Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to comment on the situation of Post-Fordism production system in China, form a Regulationists perspective, by conducting case studies on Shanghai Automobile co. which were established at the early stage and are presently concentrated in the delta of the Yangtze with the fastest economic growth in the world.

This study includes not only literature but also information obtained by visiting the Shanghai automobile co. including its assembly lines and affiliated parts makers and interviewing the people involved. Comparative analysis on the Japanese factories such as Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Hino. was conducted.
