Purpose: This study aimed to clarify the nursing management system necessary to respond to the new coronavirus disease.
Methods: The steps included: ①Support for nursing managers, ②Preparation of the "Manual for Accepting and Dispatching Support for Nursing Staff to Respond to the Novel Coronavirus Infections (Support Dispatch Manual)", ③Conducting webinars on nursing management issues during the pandemic.
Results: ①A Nursing Management Assistance Team was established within the Japan Academy of Nursing Administration and Policies, with 78 registered supporters, 28 support facilities, and a total of 43 support cases. Participants from 17 support facilities responded that the support led to a sense of security, and that they were able to actively address the issues at the facility and the management of the entire organization. ②A 39-page support dispatch manual was created. ③Six webinars were held for each region. A total of 76 people attended all programs of the webinars. The attendees discussed that for efficient response to the new coronavirus disease, working together as an organization, considering the mental health of the staff, and preparation in advance are crucial. Furthermore, they discussed the importance of building relationships that foster mutual cooperation in the community.
Discussion: A support system for nursing managers beyond organizations is required. It is necessary to build a familiar network for nursing managers belonging to different organizations, and a support dispatch system based on a support dispatch manual.
