Abstract
These days, Grundtvig studies from political aspects is increasingly getting active. But how is the “folk” of Grundtvig and its relation to nationalism considered? When Grundtvig criticized the French Revolution, he insisted on his ideal of “Science (Videnskabelighed)” should be kept and took much on his enlightenment that was based on “intuition”, “feeling” and “voice”. It depended on the mother tongue and Nordic myth, and apparently related to nationalistic essence. “People’s voice” and “freedom” are part of Grundtvig’s basic concepts, but when these are utilized much to the study of his political attitude, it may “salvage” Grundtvig from nationalistic and ethnic aspects that was not rare at that period in Europa. From his “intuition” and “voice” to his famous keyword “folkelighed”, this transition and development was something like fusion of religious and nationalism/ethnicity. And it is closer concept with German völkisch nationalism later in 19th century.
