Abstract

Aromatherapy has attracted attention as one of the alternative medicines especially in the treatments for infectious diseases. The essential oils have various profiles which anti-fungal drugs do not have. Among them, their volatile is representative. The oils can reveal their anti-fungal effect by diffusing vapor components without direct contact with fungi. The oils also suppress inflammatory reactions induced by fungal infection. From these, we expect that the essential oils have the possibility as a new treatment method for superficial mycoses.
