Results: Japanese nurses working abroad had recognized that management skills such as appropriate response, judgment, and coordination, as well as high level of communication skills with local people are essential. Discussion: Because half of the research areas were in developing countries, and there were difficulties specific to these areas, suggesting the need for familiarity with the local living environment and medical system.
