Abstract
Smart structure has many functions such as monitoring, repairing, shape formation, learning, and so on like an artificial life. Recently, there is a strong interest to apply monitoring system to structure from a quality assurance perspective. Monitoring system is useful to diagnosis or detect the structural damage and degradation. This paper describes a part of diagnostic system of structural damage and degradation by using modal parameters so as to identify the location and quantification of damage globally. First, I describes the flow of diagnostic system of structural damage and degradation, and then to explain the strategy to detect the damage sites globally by using MDLAC (Multiple Damage Location Assurance Criterion). As a result, it is pointed out that there are some possibility to confirm the system by using this method.
