Abstract
Grid structures consisting of trusses whose ribs are made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic unidirectional laminates are recently attracting attention owing to their advantages, such as lightweight, high stiffness, and fail-safe structure. In order to increase the reliability of the structures, the identification of damaged units in the structure is being attempted by monitoring of strain conditions using fiber Bragg grating sensors embedded in all ribs. For the determination of the damage location from the measured strains, the load distribution on all ribs in the damaged grid structure must be calculated analytically. Thus, in this research, equivalent stiffness of each unit was calculated using equivalent stiffness model and incorporated into FEM analysis. Using the structural analysis, the load distribution in the damaged grid structure could be calculated.
