Abstract
The present paper clarifies the strengthening range of the basement by using the flexure-shear failure transition steel ratio, of which the earthquake damages are distinguished, the flexural moment due to the vertical seismic force ignored hitherto and the importance of its consideration. In addition, the failures of the piles in the ground have occurred so frequently that this paper represents the necessity of systematic interaction analysis among the coefficient of horizontal subgrade reaction, the upper structure and the bridge pier.
