Abstract
Numerical simulations of molecular orientation profiles of nematic liquid crystals between eccentric cylinders have been performed using Frank theory. When the strong anchoring conditions are considered at inner and outer cylinders, the defect structure of the liquid crystalline molecules exists between the cylinders. From the simulation results, in the case that the center of the inner cylinder deviates from the center of the outer cylinder, a force toward the center of the outer cylinder is exerted on the inner cylinder. On the other hand, in the case of the inhomogeneous molecular anchoring condition at the cylinders, a torque on the inner cylinder arise from the molecular orientation field.
