Abstract

The austenitic steel which has the acoustic anisotropic property is generally used as structural material of nuclear power plants. It is known that the stress corrosion cracking (SCC) occurs in the austenitic steel on high temperature and pressure corrosive environment conditions. Therefore, it is essential to develop an ultrasonic non-destructive testing technique for early detection of defects. In this research, a linearized inverse scattering technique with the aid of the convolution quadrature time-domain boundary element method (CQBEM) has been developed for the reconstruction of a defect shape in an austenitic steel.
