Abstract

This study aims to develop numerical techniques for the analysis of material diffusion in unsaturated porous media. To this end, Monte Caro Markov chain method is employed to randomly pack solid particles thus generate a numerical porous medium. A random walk simulation is then implemented over an equally spaced rectangular grid to investigate the material diffusion over the network of pore water absorbed to the hydrophilic solid surfaces. In this article, the numerical methods mentioned above are outlined. Then, a numerical example is presented in which a macroscopic diffusion constant is estimated considering pore geometry.
