Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to examine the perspective of Educational Caring in physical education in post-modern society.
Though the needs of caring for children have been increased more and more, the discipline-based curriculum in the recent educational reform has hindered the caring perspective. It is revival of “Education as Development” in industrial society.
The school that practices “Education as Generation” is expected in post-modern society.
The result of having re-examine the Noddings’s and Mayeroff’s theory of Care/Caring, In construction of the relation with “the other”, “Identity-in-Difference” becomes indispensable. The relationship of “Identity-in Difference” is just Educational Caring. On the basis of the above consideration, the considerations about the physical education in post-modern society in described below.
It is devoted to the “sport-movements world” generated “Now-Here=In-place”, the learning design which induces semantic generation is needed. It became clear that physical education which is based on such “Education as Generation” is related to “Educational Caring”.
In order to be engrossed passionately interested in “sport/physical-activity world” to all children, it is important to utilize tools with the message of Care. Further, it is important to Caring as “Characterized by Engrossment” by “the others”, such as a teacher and classmates. Furthermore, it was important “to yearn into yearning of the others” in educational caring. The Educational Caring perspective in physical education is the process of related construction of the Trinity of “self”, “the others” and “sport/physical-activity world”.
