Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore the visiting nurse's actual support for persons with schizophrenia living alone in the community (user). Subjects were four psychiatric visiting nurses (3 female, 1 male) and five users (2 female, 3 male) who were provided visiting nurses. Data were collected through participant-observation and recorded with permission. Total of ten visits were collected and the data were analyzed. As a result, three categories were arrived at that describe the content of the nurse's support. These categories were 1) maintenance/ improvement current lives 2) cooperating with other health professionals and 3) continuance of ongoing treatment and nursing care. The actual aid had 7 kinds and concerned nursing care had 8 categories. Characteristic for the concerned nursing care was proposed.
