Abstract
The heavy mineral methods adopted in the stratigraphical Correlation in the Oilfield may be the most successful one in the case of non-fossil strata, such as the coal bearing formations. The scientific standpoint of the method is discussed and then the most suitable one among the sampling techniques hitherto adopted is made clear basing upon the statistical point of view.
