Abstract
We reconstruct both summer and winter sea surface temperatures (SSTs) at around 177ka (marine isotope stage 6.5) from planktonic foraminiferal assemblages in the Kunosan Formation in the Udo Hills along Suruga Bay, central Japan. The results show that the SSTs were 2-3°C colder than today and are comparable to those at Kashimanada today. This may imply that the subtropical Kuroshio Front was located off Suruga Bay during MIS 6.5.
