Changing Religious Spaces of Shanghai Protestant Church

Abstract

In China, any of religious practices has to be exercised within the framework of government directed religious policy. Especially, this system is executed by restriction and control of religious spaces. However, promotion of urban development and economic growth is giving some changes to religious places. I discuss this new situation through examining tow cases of new church buildings came into being in Shanghai recently.
