Abstract
With field data obtained 2007-2008 in Papua New Guinea and the Solomns, this presentation will discuss recent development of ethnopop in Melanesia, Melanesian Pop, focusing upon 1) that it is developing a commons of practical knowledge, and 2) copyright of songs involving the commons is basically elusive. "The Melanesian" in Melanesian Pop, which is in the process of differentiation for brand power by the local music industry, is actually coming from this appearingly 'chaotic' soundscace.
