Abstract
In order to make it easy to estimate the edge phenomenon for an incident sound-wave with arbitrary waveform by the convolution integral, at first the authors give the analytical solutions of the edge wave by using the Kirchhoff's equation for step incident wave. Secondly, a correlationless continuation of sine-wave of finite length is adopted as practical waveform, and after successive analyses for this incident wave, the following results are obtained: (1) The graphic representation of excess absorbing power is made for various incident angles. (2) Utilizing this representation, the amount of edge effect for arbitrary combinations of sound absorbing panels is estimated.
