Abstract
A single-particle simulation to account for the “heat bath” effect in a vertically vibrated granular system was conducted. In our previous studies1) under microgravity conditions, experimental results suggested that the heat bath effect in granular systems originates from the asymmetry of the velocity components of the system. This study shows the validity of this premise and elucidates how to take into account the heat bath in a system of granular gas.
