This study aimed to compare the experience rates of sports-related concussion (SRC) by sports event, report the symptoms, and clarify the impact of SRC on mental health. A survey was conducted on 183 university athletes. The results showed that (1) SRC can occur in contact sports, which have traditionally been considered to have a high rate of SRC experience, and in athletic events with low frequency of physical contact. (2) The frequency of “headache,” “dizziness,” “double vision” and “nausea” as SRC symptoms is high. (3) Controlling for subjective well-being and tendency toward inattention or hyperactivity, the study showed that the risk of exceeding the K10 cutoff point increased 1.24-fold with a 1-point increase in SRC scores. The study results prompted a discussion on the importance of incorporating a framework, such as the bio-psycho-social model, in assessing SRC and providing patient care from a mental health perspective.
