Abstract
This paper tried the classification of the land use on arable land at Osaki area, northeast part of Miyagi prefecture using multitemporal Terra/ASTER data. A survey for multitemporal NDVI showed that the arable lands have NDVI patterns for each crop, and also showed that the abandoned paddy fields have various patterns according to a management method. From the results of this survey for multitemporal NDVI patterns, firstly, we extracted paddy fields, secondly, we extracted soybean field, and followed to barley field, grassland, golf course and at last, we extracted abandoned paddy field based on the NDVI patterns. On the extracted abandoned paddy fields, some mistakes could be seen at mountainous area and riverside area, and we corrected the field to suitable class using DEM and 1/25000 topography map. It was also observed, however, that quite a few of pixels could be misclarification by mixel etc. From the results of the classification, we understood that planted areas of rice-paddy and soybean have a high correlation with statistical data of 2000 years' Census of Agriculture and Forestry, but on the other hand, the results also showed that there was large difference on barley field, grass land and abandoned field.
