Abstract
Ninety male rats were prepared for studying the effect of X-ray radiation on vascular wall cells with the aging.
They were divided into three groups as young (80g), adult (280g) and old (350g). Two cotton pellets were inserted into the rat's shoulders to cause the increase of 3H-thymidine incorporated cells in the aorta and heart.
X-ray radiation had remarkably inhibited 3H-thymidine incorporated cells in the aorta and heart especially in the young rat group.
In the three layers of aorta walls a remarkable decrease of 3H-thymidine was noted in the media in the young group after the X-ray radiation.
