Outline of a new closed circuit wind tunnel of Yokohama National University

Abstract

A new closed circuit wind tunnel of Yokohama National University was completed in July 1994. This wind tunnel is a 2nd wind tunnel of our laboratory and planed for intensive research in fundamental fluid dynamics, structural wind engineering and environmental engineering. Fundamental idea of this wind tunnel can be summarized as follows.
1) Closed circuit wind tunnel, free from small fluctuation of the external weather condition.
2) Excellent basic characteristics as the lowspeed wind tunnel for efficient experiments and reliable results
3) Comfortable and low noise work space not to disturb intensive research
4) Flexibility for future extension of wind tunnel research.
The wind tunnel has been satisfactorily operated for more than a year since its opening ceremony on July 26 1994.
