Abstract
Wind load on cladding is a very important parameter in building design, especially for high-rise buildings . So far in various building regulations and standards, the design wind load is defined as the difference of the maximum external pressure and the maximum internal pressure.
However, depending on the sign of the internal pressure, this would result either overestimation or under-estimation of wind loads in most situations. In the present study, a proposal to calculate the design wind load accurately is investigated. A new concept of gust factor for the building internal pressure is introduced and its values in various conditions are recommended through wind tunnel test.
