Abstract
The measurement of the flow field around two square cylinders in tandem arrangement is conducted by means of a split-film probe. The time-averaging and the phase averaging techniques are applied to recorded data. According to the time-averaged field, The streamwise component of the time-averaged velocity around the upper surface of the downstream cylinder is smaller than that around the upper surface of the upstream cylinder. The thickness of the boundary layer around the downstream cylinder is twice larger than that around the upstream cylinder. According to the phase-averaged field, a vortex whose diameter is about twice larger than the width of the square cylinder is formed.
