Abstract
Estimation method of force coefficients for multiple-scaffold arrays is not supported by the current 'Safety technical guidance for scaffolding subjected to wind loads (1999)', which is used to design the scaffolding, edited by the Scaffolding and Construction Equipment Association of Japan. The authors therefore tried to estimate the wind force coefficients for multiple-scaffold arrays by the wind tunnel test results, which were conducted using a 1:70-scale model of a typical modular scaffold.
As a result, using the factor called'effective shielding factor', the wind force coefficients for multiple-scaffold arrays composed of N-pieces scaffold is simply estimated with the wind force coefficient of first scaffold and the number of scaffolds.
