Abstract
The importance of bridge maintenance has been increasing to prevent from the corrosion in coastal area. Bridges located in coastal area are damaged by airborne sea salt. Therefore, various methods to
predict the detailed behavior of airborne sea salt have been developed.
In the present study, we studied the experimental method to estimate the amount of the adhesion on the
surface of a bridge. We injected a mist including salt particles into a wind tunnel. The ion electrode method was used in order to measure the amount of salt particles adhered to a bridge model. As a result, we were able to estimate clear differences at each surface of the square cylinder according to the flow
patterns.
