Abstract
483 Common Cormorants were banded with color bands at Sugekari Pond, Chita-gun, Aichi Prefecture, from 1986 to 1993; and 247 observations of color-banded cormorants were collected from Aichi (17 observation sites) and neighboring Shizuoka Prefecture (13 observation sites).
The farthest observation was at the mouth of the Abe River (Shizuoka P.), about 140km from the colony. These reports and other observations indicate that some cormorants tend to disperse during their first winter, while others remain in their native colony. Cormorants which remain tend to feed and rest at fixed places.
