Abstract

On the basis of our experiences, it may be recommended, the pedicle graft of the transverse-colon was adequate and safe to the reconstruction of the cervical esophagus after the resection of the hypopharyngeal cancer.
A series of patients with the hypopharyngeal cancer treated by the reconstructive procedures of the cervical esophagus after the hypopharyngeal resection is reported.
The reconstructive procedures of the cervical esophagus employed included the reconstruction by, the jejunal free graft (7 patients), the jejunal pedicle graft (1 Patient), the pedicle graft of the transverse-colon (6 patients) and the skin-roll graft (1 Patient).
Comparison of the follow-up results of various reconstructive operations suggest that, it is possible, in the reconstruction by the jejunal free graft the intravascular thromb osis caused of a troublesome blood vessel anastomosis gave rise to the necrosis of the transplanted graft, in the reconstruction by the jejunal pedicle graft the large segment of the jejunum must be sacrifised, and in the reconstruction by the skin-roll graft the very long time was needed to perfect the operative procedure.
