Abstract

We evaluated the outcomes of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for varicose veins with venous leg ulcer. There were 19 patients with 21 legs of varicose veins. All cases were resolved by RFA, however, ulcers were recurrent in the six cases (28.5%) out of them. The main causes of recurrent ulcer were venous reflux from accessory saphenous vein or incompetent perforator veins of the legs. Serial postoperative follow up is important because some cases of venous leg ulcers treated by RFA might be recurrent even if all of them were cured completely.
