A 69-year-old man was transferred to our hospital with local chest trauma caused by an electric sander impact. Contrast-enhanced CT revealed Stanford type A aortic dissection with an ulcer-like projection at the level of the sino-tubular junction (STJ), and pericardial effusion. Emergency surgery was performed. Although no penetrating injury was found in the adventitia of the ascending aorta, we identified an intimal tear of the anterior circumference of the STJ. This led us to a diagnosis of traumatic aortic dissection. We performed replacement of the ascending aorta. We reported a rare case of blunt trauma–induced ascending aorta dissection.
